Abstracts

Abstracts for the meeting can be submitted after a delegate pass is booked and paid for. You can upload your abstract immediately after paying for your pass, or at a later date up until 2359 on Monday 22 January. A link to do this will be in your registration confirmation email.

Who Can Submit An Abstract ?

You must be a lead or co-author to submit an abstract.

Only abstracts submitted by trainees or students will be invited to take part in the poster tours, case presentation competition and are eligible for prizes. Please ensure your abstract is submitted by a trainee or student if you wish them to be considered for these.

Abstracts are welcome from consultants for platform and poster presentations, but will not be eligible for prizes, case presentation competition, or poster tours

ABN Fellows are invited to submit a poster showcasing their ABN Fellowship project.  Please select ‘ABN Fellow’ as your topic upon uploading it. These abstracts will not be considered for platform presentations or the case presentations.

Encore Abstracts 
Priority will be given to new material. Encore abstracts can be submitted but only if they were published after 22 July 2023. Previously published material must be declared.

Patient Data
It is your responsibility to obtain written consent for the use of patient data, if applicable. An example of a simple consent form can be found here. Please give a copy of the consent form to the patient(s) and keep a copy for your own records

JNNP
Abstracts are published in the JNNP in the summer after the meeting. There is an opt-out field on the abstract form should you not want your abstract included.

Bursaries & Prizes

Bursaries 
Bursaries of £50  are available for up to 100 early career researchers who are lead authors of abstracts accepted for the 2024 meeting. Apply for a bursary when you submit your abstract. If your award is successful, £50 will be credited back onto your card.

Prizes 
There are prizes on offer for posters, platforms and case presentations from trainees and students. The presentations will be scored by delegates and the winners will be announced during the final session of the meeting on Thursday 23 May.

Key Information

• Deadline for abstract submissions: Monday 22 January

• Word limit for abstracts: 200 words
(excluding title and authors’ details)

• Word limit for abstract titles: 15 words

• No of authors and institutions per abstract: 10

• Abstracts presented elsewhere after 22 July 2023 may be submitted, but this must be declared

• Abstract and bursary notifications: Tuesday 5 March 

• Abstract withdrawal deadline: Tuesday 2 April

Posters

• Posters should be produced in A0 portrait orientation (841mm wide x 1189mm high).
• Presenters will be directed to their poster board spaces on arrival.
• Posters should be on display for the duration of the meeting. 
• Delegates will be encouraged to view the poster exhibition throughout the week, so during refreshment breaks and lunch times, please watch out for others showing an interest in your work.

Poster viewing Sessions
Please be present by your poster during the two poster tour sessions on
Tue 21 May at 1630 – 1745, and
Wed 22 May at 1415 – 1530
• Posters must be taken down immediately after lunch on Thursday 23 May.
• Poster boards will be dismantled during the afternoon sessions on Thursday and any work left in the venue at the end of the meeting will be recycled.
