What’s happening at ABN 2026?

We are excited to host an action-packed, four-day event featuring teaching sessions led by leading clinical and academic neurological experts.

Building on the success of the Liverpool meeting, which attracted over 1,000 delegates, we anticipate welcoming a similar number this year.

The event will be held at the ICC Birmingham, a short walk from Birmingham New Street station.

The program begins with a Training Day and setup on Tuesday, 5 May, followed by the main conference from Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 May.

Academic Opportunities

Information available upon request

Advanced Clinical Training Fellowships

The UK has an urgent and increasing need for highly specialised neurologists to improve care for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Advances in therapeutics across the spectrum of neurological conditions offers the prospect of better outcomes for our patients, but to achieve this we need to develop a highly skilled workforce. The ABN has worked with neurologists across the UK to develop curricula for Advanced Clinical Training Fellowships in Neuroinflammation, Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular conditions, Epilepsy and many more disease areas. We are developing a highly competitive national scheme recruiting the very best senior trainee neurologists into these advanced clinical training fellowships. We welcome interest from industry and the charitable sector partners to provide financial support for salary costs.

Clinical Research Training Fellowships

The ABN is a strong supporter of academic neurology to identify disease mechanisms and treatments that will help neurology patients. This depends on training junior neurologists in research to equip them to carry out research when they become NHS consultants or neurology faculty. The ABN runs a successful Clinical Research Training Fellowship scheme for UK and Irish neurology trainees who wish to undertake a PhD. The scheme is highly competitive, and awards are made after a competition and interview process that is robust and transparent. The scheme has recently supported up to four awards per year relevant to neurological sub-specialties. Details of current fellows illustrate the breadth of the scheme. We already have a number ofsuccessful charity partnerships and we welcome interest from industry and the new charity partners interested in providing financial support for salary or research costs.
